At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the visitors were presented with a wellness bracelet that can regulate the subjective body temperature.
Wrist Conditioning System
At high summer temperatures, it is helpful to let cool water flow through your wrist to get refreshed. Scientists from the Institute of Technology adopted this principle in order to invent a wrist-conditioning system. With the help of this world novelty, the user is able to warm his perceived body temperature in the winter by five degrees Celsius and in the summer around the same span to cool.
How It Works?
Basically quite simple: The technology is based on a physiological insight: that a person feels more comfortable by deliberate heating or cooling certain body parts, even if the core temperature of the body remains unchanged. This, in turn, is based on the fact that the stimulation of thermoreceptors, in this case on the wrist – affects the specific regions of the brain that regulate thermoregulation and well-being. With this new technology, the company is making an important contribution to improving the well-being of people worldwide permanently.
The Bracelet, With Which The Own Temperature Feeling Can Be Influenced
It works with a simple display touch. The world premiere is the result of a collaboration with Embr Labs, a specialist in wellness applications, founded by the American scientists. In the state of Nevada, known for its games of chance and shows, users were able to see the new wellness bracelet. “As a material innovation partner, we’re once again helping product manufacturers bring next-generation technologies to market,” says the spokesman.
Impressive Technology
Covestro brings his wealth of experience, especially in the design of the wellness bracelet. For the user interface, the company contributed a Makrolon product. The innovative material has several advantages. It is not only characterized by its high heat resistance and strength, but also impresses with its aesthetics. But that’s not all: Covestro has also compounded diffusers and optical brighteners in the starting material to achieve the desired lighting effect during use.
