Exhibition design on laser technology for the Institute for Quantum Optics, adapted to the unusual spaces of the ESO planetarium. Beams arranged around a central space bear the light boxes and monitors of the exhibition. At the center are special laser applications, including a laser harp, which is rear in Europe.
From January 2019, this fascinating exhibition will be presenting the Laser, Light, Life. Science fiction turns into high-tech photonics. Designed by the Faculty of Physics, it gives insights into laser technology from the beginning to the present day and illuminates the visionary possibilities of their application. In addition to science fiction and the history of laser technology, the show will present fascinating fields of fundamental research at the Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics.
The Highlight Of The Exhibition Is A Two-Meter Laser Harp
Visitors have the opportunity to play this futuristic musical instrument by interrupting the beam paths of green laser light. In addition, it is possible to transfer music to experimental stations with the help of light waves and to adjust a laser, much like researchers in the laboratory.
The Exhibition Also Explains The Work Of The Laser Researchers
Learn how to shoot electrons with ultrashort flashes of light to discover the secrets of the microcosm. Learn how to accelerate particles with high-intensity light pulses to break new ground in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
Today we are at the beginning of a long journey that photonics will cover. The possibilities of the laser are far from exhausted. The century is referred to as the century of the photon and thus as that of the light particles. Follow the path of light through the exhibition! On this special instrument of light, visitors will be able to play music by interrupting laser beams. Everything will be completed. Be curious! The exhibition is looking forward to your visit!
